Stump Grinding in Orlando, FL

A stump left in the yard isn't just an eyesore — it's a mower hazard, a termite magnet, and it'll sit there sprouting new shoots for years if you let it. We grind stumps down below grade so the spot is ready to sod, plant, pave, or build over, not just hidden under mulch. Joe comes out, looks at what you've got, and tells you straight what it'll take.

What's included

Grinding the stump and the visible surface roots down below grade so the area is ready for sod, landscaping, or a new structure.

Hauling off the resulting wood chips and grindings, or leaving them on-site to use as mulch — your call.

Backfilling the grind hole with soil so it doesn't settle into a pit over the following weeks.

Handling multiple stumps on the same visit — whole-yard stump removal after a clearing job or storm cleanup.

Working around sprinkler lines, septic fields, pools, and utility lines once we know where they run.

+  When You Need It
  • A tree came down in a storm and the trunk's gone but the stump is still sitting there.
  • You're prepping a new build lot and the old stumps are in the footprint of the house, driveway, or septic field.
  • An old stump is pushing up a sidewalk, driveway, or fence line as the roots keep growing.
  • You're re-landscaping or putting in sod and need a flat, obstruction-free yard.
  • A stump is sprouting suckers every season and you're done fighting it with a weed trimmer.

What affects the cost

Every property is different, so every quote is written after we've actually seen the site — not off a phone call. These are the factors that move the number:

  • Stump diameter and how far the root flare spreads below grade.
  • How many stumps are on the job and whether they're clustered or spread across the property.
  • Wood type and condition — a dense, healthy oak stump grinds differently than a rotted pine.
  • Access for the grinder — tight side yards or fenced-in backyards take longer to reach.
  • Haul-off versus leaving the grindings on-site.
  • Root systems running under a driveway, septic field, or irrigation line that need extra care.

Stump Grinding — Common Questions

Standard grinding takes the stump and major surface roots down below grade — typically 6–12 inches below the surrounding soil — which is enough for sod or light landscaping. If you're planning to build, pour concrete, or plant a tree in the exact same spot, tell us up front so we can grind deeper or clear out more of the root ball.
